My name is Rebecca Kinsinger Bowman, Becky for short. Welcome to my website.
I have always wanted art to be a part of my life. As a child I spent many happy hours making "stuff". I remember panic setting in on a family vacation when I discovered I hadn't packed any drawing paper! My mom's rag bag was full of potential doll clothes, her Ivory soap bars became sculptures, and paint by number sets were some of my favorite gifts. I just couldn't help myself!
Fortunately, I was blessed with many mentors on my artistic journey, art teachers, family friends, and my own artistic parents and grandparents. My formal training includes attaining a BFA from Miami University of Ohio with a major in painting, and various workshops and classes of special interest.
Attempting to embrace the philosophy, "Do what you love," I've worked as an artist all of my adult life, as a sign painter, graphic artist and illustrator for a newspaper, a landscape illustrator for an architect, a graphic artist for a government contractor, and as a painter. When people ask what I do, I am blessed to be able to say "I'm an artist, and I love my job!"
It gives me great joy to paint pieces that involve a special event, place, person or pet in someone's life. Currently, I have found success doing what I refer to as Totem paintings. Combining my admiration for wildlife, and native American history. I feel very connected to these pieces and find it a privilege to paint them.
My brother once said, "If you paint for a living, what are you going to do for a hobby, accounting?" So far, I'm delighted to say, I've been able to skip the accounting!!! Currently I live in southern Ohio with my very supportive family.
